Please check out Watch It Paint It!‘s original video, where he shows and describes in real-time how paint his Blood Angel, Space Marine.
Summary
This tutorial showcases you what you can do with a popular miniature using almost exclusively Speedpaints (the only exception is for metallic paint which doesn’t exist at the time of this article). The tools/supplies are bare bones easy too: a brush, primer, super glue, Speedpaint, and metallic paint. His approach is easy to follow and doesn’t require any previous experience. Best of all, it looks good.
Paints / Primers
- Citadel, Primer – Wraith Bone White
- The Army Painter, Speedpaint – Blood Red
- The Army Painter, Speedpaint – Gravelord Gray
- The Army Painter, Speedpaint – Dark Wood
- The Army Painter, Speedpaint – Grim Black
- The Army Painter, Speedpaint – Slaughter Red
- The Army Painter, Speedpaint – Malignant Green
- The Army Painter, Speedpaint – Sand Golem
- The Army Painter, Speedpaint – Pallid Bone
- The Army Painter, Claymore Blade
Steps
- Citadel, Primer – Wraith Bone White
- Brush on The Army Painter Speedpaint Blood Red
- Brush The Army Painter Claymore Blade over insignia and other metallic looking parts
- Brush The Army Painter Speedpaint Gravelord Gray over all the metalic areas just painted in the previous step (like a wash)
- Brush The Army Painter Speedpaint Dark Wood over parts of the gun
- Brush The Army Painter Speedpaint Grim Black over the shoulder trim, knee cap, and holstered gun
- Brush The Army Painter Speedpaint Slaughter Red on the wax seal
- Attach the arms and paint the eyes green (this was done off camera). I’m guessing he used Malignant Green or Orc Skin for the eyes (basically yellow or green). Super glue is how you attach limbs.
- Brush The Army Painter Speedpaint Sand Golem for the pouches
- Brush The Army Painter Speedpaint Pallid Bone on the ribbon
- You’re Finished!!
